Navy Seal MA2 Michael Monsoor was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for jumping on a combatant grenade to save two teammates in Iraq, 2006 . .Citation
Navy Seal AO2 Marc Lee was posthumously awarded the silver star, bronze star with Valor, and the purple heart after becoming the first SEAL to perish in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006.

Navy Seal SO2 Ryan Job, recipient of the Bronze Star with Valor, was blinded after getting shot in the face by a sniper in Iraq in 2006. Though totally blind, he summitted Mount Rainier in 2008 and earned a 4.0GPA on his way to completing a degree in Business Administration in 2009. He passed away in late 2009 from complications after yet another surgery to repair the damage to his face, just a few months before the birth of his first child.
