I’d like to think we made TSgt John Chapman proud this week. So many warriors at LA AFB showed up to get their butts kicked and souls crushed by the Chapman Memorial Workout, but ultimately growing stronger, and supporting Maj Katherine Portillo and Pavel Ythjall during our fundraiser.

Kat and Pavel are without a doubt some of the most wonderful people I have ever had a privilege to meet and work with. Kat is an 18-year Air Force veteran that was left paralyzed below the shoulders after a tragic car-accident in December 2015. Through the many thoughtful donations of the workout participants and attendees, we were able to provide more than 200 nursing-care hours for Kat, who requires 24/7 nursing care due to her condition resulting from the paralysis (the majority of those hours are unfortunately not covered by medical benefits).

When I devised the Chapman workout, I wanted it to be worthy of the name, reflecting the incredible actions TSgt Chapman undertook on 3/4/2002. It is not a walk in the park, but give it a shot. Tailor it, split it up between teammates, or crush it 3 times in a row. As always, weight vest is optional but recommended for the full experience. The Chapman is the newest addition in a long and proud line of Memorial workouts i have cooked up, which you can find here.

A HUGE Bravo Zulu as well to Maj Anya Fedotovaand the awesome folks at Divinity Strength CrossFit and Fighter Diet for helping out a TON with this event. It wouldn’t have been such a success without all of your help. We basically held a 7 hour workout party and it was a ton of fun. There are still plenty of opportunities to help Kat! Please visit https://strongwithkat.com/ to get inspired by this relentless warrior and to support a great cause with a donation, large or small. Awesome video of the workout below courtesey of Pavel Ythjall.
